Join us for an evening of self-care, community journalling and rapid fire storytelling. We have partnered with our kapwa at Elly and Amar Studio to create a warm and welcoming space for you to explore your beauty narratives. 

How can our stories be honoured, celebrated or simply told if we keep them to ourselves?

Historically, our stories have not been given the platforms they deserve. This event exists to witness our collective story sharing as a way to tap into our community power.

Storytelling allows us to transcend location and generations, connects us back to self, while simultaneously connecting us back to community and ancestry.

How it works (it's real easy, promise):

We'll start with a guided self care ritual

The host will then give the group a series of journal prompts on the theme of

Owning Our Beauty Narratives

20mins of cozy journalling

Then each participant is given up to 10mins to share their story/reflection

 Surrounded by the ambience of Elly and Amar Studio, accompanied by the sounds of DJ Kilusan, a Tagalog Bisayan filipinx queer non-binary multi-hyphenate artist, educator and community organizer.

Hosted by artist Rei “Medēio” Misiri, a Toronto-based calligraphy artist known for his dynamic "calligraffiti" style murals and elaborate portraits. Unlike conventional calligraphy, which focuses on the language of words, Medēio’s approach to his craft solely focuses on the sublime language of movement, rhythm, emotion, and synergy, which words may not express.

In this unique workshop, Medēio will guide you on how to produce an abstract piece of art that you’ll be excited to take home or gift to a loved one!
